Reviews
If you're looking for a comic book store that's equal parts grumpiness and giggles, then Grumpy Old Man's Comics in Seattle is the place for you! Don't let the name fool you; this place is a hidden gem that will tickle your funny bone and keep you coming back for more.
From the moment I walked through the creaky door, I was greeted by a chorus of delightful grumbles and sarcastic remarks. The staff at Grumpy Old Man's Comics truly know how to embrace their inner curmudgeon with a side of humor. Their eye rolls are top-notch, and their witty banter is enough to make even the most stoic customer crack a smile.
The store itself feels like a time capsule from a bygone era, with vintage posters adorning the walls and action figures posing in their grumpy glory. You can't help but chuckle at the handwritten signs that read, "No whippersnappers allowed!" and "We only accept payment in pennies and grumpy nods."
The selection of comics is vast, catering to every kind of comic book enthusiast. Whether you're a fan of classic superheroes, indie comics, or obscure titles that only true aficionados would know, Grumpy Old Man's Comics has got you covered. And don't worry, the staff may seem grumpy, but they're actually walking encyclopedias of comic book knowledge. Just ask them a question, and they'll begrudgingly provide you with an impressively detailed answer.
But the real charm of this place lies in the events they organize. I had the pleasure of attending their "Grumpy Trivia Night," and let me tell you, it was a riot! Picture a room full of comic book fans bickering playfully over who knows more about the Marvel universe or arguing about the true identity of Batman's greatest arch-nemesis. It was like being in a comedy show, only with more spandex.
Oh, and did I mention the coffee? Grumpy Old Man's Comics serves up some seriously strong coffee that could wake the Hulk from his beauty sleep. It's the perfect companion for browsing the shelves or engaging in a spirited debate about the merits of DC versus Marvel.
In conclusion, if you're in Seattle and have a soft spot for witty grumblings and belly laughs, make your way to Grumpy Old Man's Comics. It's a place where the cantankerous and the comical converge, leaving you with a smile on your face and a few laughs to share with fellow comic book enthusiasts. Just remember to bring your best sarcasm and a well-prepared sense of humor. And don't worry, they might be grumpy, but they secretly love having you there. Trust me, you'll leave feeling like an honorary member of the Grumpy Old Man's Comics family.
The owner is a great guy. He is super friendly, and I could talk comics with him for hours and hours. He is extremely knowledgable about anything comic related. This store is fantastic and I found so many back issues that I was looking for here. Overall, its an amazing comic shop, one of the best I have ever been to.
I loved this place. I visited Seattle for a conference, asked around where the best comic shop for back issues was, and everyone said Grumpy old man's. And they were right!! So many great back issue, slabs, keys, etc. And the 2 gentlemen running the shop were incredibly nice. Highly recommend!!!!
I just gotta say that the service was top notch. I was amazed at the variety this store shared. I was a bit nervous in the shop however because the owner was very cute. Made me blush a little. Thanks again 👌👍😘 …
The best comic shop in Seattle. Huge selection of back issues and keys, great prices, and don't let the name fool you, Alan and the staff are very friendly.
A friendly place A great collection of pop culture comics etc
This spot reminds me of my youth. It's a comic book fans comic shop. It's literally wall to wall comics. Floor to shelf boxes stacks with all sorts. I personally love it. It reminds me of the 90s era shops. The owner is super cool despite the shop being called grumpy 🤣🤣 …
Don’t let the name dissuade you, Grumpy Old Man’s Comics is one of the best comic book shops I’ve visited. The back issue inventory is fantastic and has a lot of harder to find issues. It’d be easy to spend hours here just browsing. Staff is super friendly (including the shop dog), knowledgeable, and helpful. Definitely will be back!
